Description
A new workshop for 2024 using bark stripped from our own willow – Limited Spaces Available
Times: 10am – 4.00pm.
Cost: 85.00
Run at our home studio, with a small group of up to 5 people, there will be plenty of time to work closely with Justine to complete the pouch.
You will learn how to soak and cut the willow bark into different size strips and then weave into a base shape and secure with waxed thread.
You will then weave the sides, complete a border and add a strap to hang round you neck or on a peg. You can even make it the correct size to store your snips or pens.
We will also cover the best time of year to strip willow and how to best store the bark.
All materials and tools are provided.
Please feel free to bring a button that you would like to use.
Last year, I traveled to Denmark to study with the hugely talented Ane Lyngsgaard. While I was there, Ane taught me how to weave these pouches (and other lovely bark baskets) with willow bark, and other materials. This is my take on the skills I learned.
