Description
A weaving willow suitable for basketry and living willow structures and is considered a native of the UK and Europe. Almost black when growing, it dries to a deeper black.
Grows approx 5-7′ in the first year and can be branchy on some rods.
Coppice annually to keep the colour.
We have used it in our willow field to make a living willow fedge.
Now recognised by the Latin name: Salix myrsinifolia subsp. myrsinifolia
