C049 Salix nigricans – black stems

Description

A weaving willow suitable for basketry and living willow structures.  Almost black when growing, it dries to a deeper black.

Grows approx 5-7′ in the first year and can be branchy on some rods.

Coppice annually to keep the colour.

We have used it in our willow field to make a living willow fedge.
